Can I pull this off? How to rock a trend with confidence.
Do you ever see an outfit or an accessory that you love, but then you tell yourself, "I'm not the type of person that could pull that off."
I used to do that all of the time, and to be honest, this necklace is an example of that.
I wasn't sure if I was trendy enough to rock this the way it deserves. But here's the truth: EVERY time I wear it, I get compliments on it.
I started looking around at the way that other women dress, strangers who I know nothing about, and I started asking myself, "What makes her the type of woman that can pull that off and not me?" I realized that I had absolutely no basis for why I felt that certain people could "pull off" a look that was telling myself I wasn't the right type of person for.
Red lipstick, big earrings, purple hair, ripped jeans, high heels, trendy jewelry....anyone should be able to participate in self expression through fashion in any way that they want- myself included.
The new game I play with myself is called, "Pretend to be confident." And the results are pretty amazing. I've started to *feel* like the type of person who wears stuff like this, and I'm not as afraid to take risks because I know that confidence starts from within.
